Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez rushes Kato and presses him up against the cage.
Rodriguez turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Rodriguez is looking to take a break and control but Kato is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kato is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Rodriguez's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Rodriguez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kato is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rodriguez defends well.

Kato escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rodriguez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Rodriguez wanted to stand there but Kato had control of the position.

Kato has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rodriguez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Kato is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rodriguez defends well.

Kato has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Rodriguez doesn't defend quickly enough and Kato has managed to lock this one up! Can Rodriguez escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Kato on a fantastic submission victory.
