PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Thaigo Rewars (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zbyszek Cirak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zbyszek Cirak is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Thaigo Rewars!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Zbyszek Cirak!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cirak shoots for a takedown but Rewars saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rewars throws a series of punches but Cirak avoids them all with ease.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cirak.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rewars looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Rewars shoots for a double leg takedown but Cirak sprawls well. He's pushed Rewars's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Cirak shoots in but no luck this time.
Thaigo Rewars has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zbyszek Cirak.
Cirak tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rewars sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cirak somewhat.

Rewars shoots in and bounces Cirak off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Cirak is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rewars is controlling him.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Cirak closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rewars circles away.

Rewars throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Cirak has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cirak stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cirak wants it to stay on the feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Cirak.
Rewars pushes Cirak away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Cirak gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rewars stops Cirak from passing to mount.
The referee asks Cirak politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Cirak prefers to stall for the moment though.
Cirak is working Rewars over with some ground and pound from side control.
Cirak works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Rewars on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rewars tries to get out of the position.

Cirak creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Cirak is trying to get an arm triangle but Rewars is defending well.
The referee asks Cirak politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Cirak prefers to stall for the moment though.

Cirak lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Cirak shoots for a double leg takedown but Rewars sprawls well. He's pushed Cirak's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Cirak shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rewars but Rewars pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Thaigo Rewars has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zbyszek Cirak.

and Cirak counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Cirak has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Rewars can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cirak controls the pace.

Cirak looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rewars is fending him off so far but Cirak persists. Nope, Rewars circles away and we're back to standing.

Rewars will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Cirak takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Cirak wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rewars keeps working.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Zbyszek Cirak.

Cirak is staying tight to Rewars's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Cirak is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rewars knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Zbyszek Cirak showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cirak lands a big shot there that rocks Rewars but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The referee warns Rewars that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Cirak takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Oh Rewars is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Cirak unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Rewars wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Cirak celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
