PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Awts Wew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tomasz Franusik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Tomasz Franusik was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Awts Wew!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Tomasz Franusik!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Colin Fotheringham and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wew tries to score a power double leg takedown but Franusik sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Wew somewhat.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
A looping hook to the body misses from Franusik. Wew does a little dance to reset his feet.
Wew throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Franusik's waist but Franusik gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wew off to one side.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Franusik manages to break the clinch.

and Franusik counters with a nice low kick that buckles Wew's knee momentarily.

Wew changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Franusik tries to avoid it but Wew manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Franusik to the ground. Franusik escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Wew tries for a takedown but Franusik manages to get underhooks.

Franusik breaks the clinch.
Wew gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Franusik counters with a solid body kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Franusik moves into the clinch.
Wew tries to pull guard but Franusik won't allow it.

Franusik closes the distance and clinches.

Franusik throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Wew stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Wew steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Franusik. That one must have hurt.
Franusik connects with a high kick.
Franusik misses with a two punch combination.
Franusik lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Franusik throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Franusik misses with a few strikes there.
Horrible takedown by Wew or perhaps it was just good defense by Franusik which made him look bad.

A head kick from Franusik lands but Wew takes it in his stride.

Wew tries to keep at a distance but Franusik has taken the fight into the clinch.

Franusik's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Nice sprawl there from Franusik as Wew shoots in.
Franusik slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Franusik throws a shot to the body.
Franusik jabs Wew to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Wew on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Franusik has closed the distance and engaged Wew in a clinch.

Franusik's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Wew sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Franusik pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Wew wants a takedown but no success here.
Wew takes an elbow to the temple.
Wew looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Franusik manages to break the clinch.
Franusik lands a jab-cross combination.
Franusik takes one to the chin there.
Franusik ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Wew moves away.

Franusik rushes Wew and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.

Franusik throws a half hearted mid kick.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Franusik lets loose with a powerful body kick. Wew will feel that in the morning.
Wew shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Franusik sprawls well. Franusik wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wew gets slowly back to his feet.

Franusik has managed to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Franusik throws a head kick that misses.

Franusik gets caught napping as Wew dives in and scores a takedown. Franusik manages to retain guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Wew drops back looking for a leg! Franusik is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Franusik manages to kick Wew off! Wew jumps back into Franusik's guard.
Wew missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Wew is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Franusik is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Franusik has escaped and now he's on top!
Wew is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Wew is looking for a kimura but Franusik is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Wew to get the leverage.

Wew is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Wew drops back looking for a leg! Franusik is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Franusik manages to kick Wew off! Wew jumps back into Franusik's guard.

Wew drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Franusik manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Wew has Franusik in his guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Wew is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Franusik defends well.

Franusik gets to his feet - Wew follows without any prompting.
Wew fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Franusik closes the distance and clinches.
Wew drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Wew crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Franusik - the referee stops the clock and Wew gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Franusik. Wew manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
