4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Suren Kalik! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Dmitry Maklakov and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brazzi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Kalik is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Brazzi pulls his head out easily. Brazzi is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Kalik is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Brazzi pulls his head out easily. Kalik is looking to escape. Kalik works his way to full guard. Good work. Kalik looks gassed! Brazzi trying to control the position from guard on top but Kalik is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Brazzi passes easily into side control. Nice work. Brazzi looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. This has been an exciting period of action! Kalik tries to get back to half guard but can't. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Brazzi is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kalik knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Luka Brazzi dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Brazzi shoots for a double leg takedown but Kalik sprawls well. He's pushed Brazzi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brazzi dives in and grabs Kalik's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kalik pushes down on Brazzi's head and hops out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brazzi shoots for a double leg takedown but Kalik sprawls well. He's pushed Brazzi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Luka Brazzi. That's going to take a lot out of him. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Brazzi. Brazzi fails to land the takedown. Kalik shoots in looking for a takedown but Brazzi manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kalik's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Luka Brazzi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brazzi slaps away a takedown attempt from Kalik, before circling back to the center of the mat. Kalik changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Brazzi looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Brazzi is trying to get back to half guard. Kalik is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Brazzi is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Brazzi manages to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kalik is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Brazzi has managed to free his arm - good work. Brazzi is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kalik's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kalik's back! Brazzi is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Kalik is defending well though. Brazzi let's go of the attempt for now. Brazzi has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Kalik! Can he survive? No! He's out! Brazzi gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
