PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Falko Estrada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Master (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Master has chosen Scars as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Falko Estrada!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Ray Master!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Sam Margolis and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Master takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Master stuffs the takedown.
Master fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Master tries to clinch but Estrada is having none of it.
Estrada shoots in for a double leg but Master sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Master throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Estrada avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Master stalks Estrada and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Estrada's face. Estrada staggers backwards, shaken.
Estrada misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Falko Estrada. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A head kick misses from Master.
Master misses with a body shot.
A slapping body kick lands there for Master.
Master throws a nice looking combination but Estrada bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Estrada shoots in for a takedown but Master shows good takedown defense.
Estrada shoots in for a double leg but Master sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Master loads up on a big right hand but Estrada slips the punch.

Master using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Estrada has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Master tries to stall but Estrada uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Master must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Master wants to stand and escape but instead Estrada has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Estrada throws a strike aimed at the side of Master's head but Master avoids it well.
Master avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Estrada.
Estrada in side control lands a decent elbow.
Master manages to work his way to half guard, despite Estrada's best efforts.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Master tries to roll over but Estrada keeps him under control.
Estrada wants to pass to mount but Master is defending the position.
Estrada drops an elbow to the side of Master's head.

Estrada is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Master blocking the ground and pound attempt from Estrada.
Estrada not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Master tries to get to full guard but Estrada has control of the leg.
Estrada has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Master avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Estrada.
Estrada trying to control the action but Master is working from the bottom.
Estrada perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Estrada thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Estrada wants to work for an arm triangle but Master is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Estrada lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Estrada looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Estrada thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Master's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Falko Estrada dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Estrada, as that shot connected.
Estrada swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Master throws a quick inside leg kick.

Master feints and as Estrada raises his hands in defense, Master changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Estrada had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Master defends it easily.

Master stands and steps away. Estrada gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Master gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Estrada with a flurry of punches that miss.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Master avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Estrada won't allow Master to get back to his feet.
Estrada is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Estrada wants to pass the guard but Master is keeping the position.
Estrada makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Falko Estrada overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Estrada is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Estrada working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Master's head.
Estrada keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Master's head.
Estrada trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Estrada stands up over Master, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Estrada wants to pass the guard but Master is keeping the position.
Estrada throws and elbow that misses. Master uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Estrada's guard. Nice move by Master!

Master would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Estrada has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Master can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Master is sitting in close to Estrada's body. Estrada has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Master is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Master is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Estrada.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Falko Estrada!

A relieved looking Falko Estrada thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
