Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andre Battle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Buddy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Battle kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Break Stuff. Andre Battle has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andre Battle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robert Buddy!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Damien Edna and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Battle misses with a left hand
letting Buddy counter with a right hand.
Buddy jabs at Battle's body.
Buddy throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Battle sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Battle looks to land a right hand but Buddy moved out of range.
Battle shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Buddy defends it nicely.
Battle looks to score with a jab to the body but Buddy is just out of range.

Battle gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Buddy slowing the pace effectively.

Battle misses with some punches.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Battle.
Battle fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Battle gets through Buddy's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Battle throws a head punch that misses.
Buddy is pushing Battle up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Buddy blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
The referee calls for Battle to work.
Battle wants to break the clinch but can't.
Battle taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Buddy is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Battle is keeping busy.

Battle manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Buddy on his heels. He'll look to pass Buddy's guard now, I'm sure.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Battle trying to control the position from guard on top but Buddy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Buddy is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The fighters are battling for position here. Battle manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Battle looking for a guillotine here but Buddy defends easily.

Buddy throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Buddy is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Battle trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Battle looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Buddy works over Battle with some ground and pound from guard.
Buddy trying to control the position from guard on top but Battle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Buddy might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Battle kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Battle ducks right into an uppercut from Buddy.
Battle lands with a good body shot.
Battle tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Buddy swivels and escapes.

Buddy shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Battle's guard.
Buddy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Battle swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Buddy thows a big elbow that misses.

Battle isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Buddy stacks Battle on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Buddy!

Buddy works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Buddy cracks Battle with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Buddy lands an elbow.
Buddy cracks Battle with a big right hand but Battle just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Battle is not content to let Buddy control the position.
A lull in the action here as Buddy stalls from top position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Battle is looking for a sweep.
Buddy trying to control the position but Battle is working away.
Battle bucks up and tries to throw Buddy off but instead Buddy has got his back!
Battle is keeping busy.
Battle trying to control the hands but Buddy breaks the grip.
Buddy lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Buddy.
Battle looking very determined here, making life difficult for Buddy.

Battle trying to control the hands but Buddy breaks the grip.

Battle grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Buddy. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

Battle tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
