Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Savage Messiah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oleg Volkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Volkov is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Stand By Me. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Messiah gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Volkov counters by moving into the clinch.

Volkov jumps guard.
Messiah controlling from the top position.
Volkov has control of Messiah's left arm, preventing Messiah from doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Volkov keeping moving, preventing Messiah from controlling successfully.
Messiah pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Volkov is keeping the position for now.
Volkov is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Savage Messiah wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Volkov misses with a body kick.
Volkov walks into a stiff left hand from Messiah.
Volkov fails with a takedown attempt.

Messiah closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Messiah is trying to break free.
Messiah lands an elbow that stopped Volkov in his tracks for a moment.

Messiah jumps guard and drags Volkov to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Volkov won't allow Messiah to sweep him here.

Messiah scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Messiah stuffs the takedown attempt from Volkov. Volkov gets slowly back to his feet.
Messiah thows a body shot but no joy.
Messiah fails with a takedown attempt.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Volkov throws the kick towards the body but Messiah avoids it.
Messiah lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Volkov fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Messiah to the ground. Volkov is now in Messiah's guard.

Messiah manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Volkov misses with a body kick.
Volkov looks gassed!
Messiah lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Volkov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Savage Messiah has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Oleg Volkov.
Messiah swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Messiah drives through and clinches with Volkov against the cage.
Volkov tries to break free but Messiah pushes him back against the cage.

Messiah manages to break the clinch.

Messiah has taken the fight to the clinch.
Messiah tries for a takedown but Volkov manages to get underhooks.

Volkov has picked Messiah up - he's going for a ride! Volkov dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Messiah moves into full guard.
Messiah has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Messiah is looking to stand up but Volkov isn't so interested in that idea.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Messiah pulls Volkov in close to prevent any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Savage Messiah dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Messiah looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Volkov is fending him off so far but Messiah persists. Nope, Volkov circles away and we're back to standing.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Messiah here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
A good leg kick by Messiah.
Messiah shoots in for a double leg but Volkov sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Volkov gets a double leg takedown into Messiah's guard.
Volkov loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Messiah has his hands on Volkov's head, controlling the position.
Savage Messiah overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Messiah tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Messiah has his foot on Volkov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Volkov works his way back into a safe position though.

Volkov wants to control from the top but Messiah keeps moving.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Volkov wanted to stand there but Messiah had control of the position.

Messiah working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Volkov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Messiah is tightening it up a little... Volkov has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Volkov reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Volkov taps out! nice BJJ there by Messiah!
