Demetriou comes to the cage accompanied by Boom - POD. Malik has chosen The Final Countdown as his entrance music. Waqas Malik is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malik tries to score a power double leg takedown but Demetriou sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Malik somewhat.
Demetriou tests Malik's chin there with a solid looking shot.

It looks like Waqas Malik has been cut.
Malik wants to clinch up but Demetriou keeps it at a distance.
Demetriou avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Demetriou throws a left and a right that both miss
and Malik makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Malik tries to close the distance and clinch but Demetriou swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Demetriou fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Malik to the ground. Demetriou is now in Malik's guard.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Malik escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Demetriou gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Demetriou lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Demetriou stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Malik swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Malik is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Demetriou content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Malik is looking for a triangle here but Demetriou uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
