Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rick Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reggie Diggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ward's entrance music is Tap Out. A fine choice. Diggs comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Lupe Fiasco - Words I Never Said kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rick Ward!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Reggie Diggs!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Diggs scores with a takedown into Ward's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Diggs wants to control from the top but Ward keeps moving.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Diggs got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ward has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Diggs has managed to get both his arms back between Ward's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Diggs seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Diggs closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ward did well to prevent Diggs getting side control.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Diggs seems to be working for a kimura but Ward defends the submission attempt.
Diggs winds up and cracks Ward with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Diggs closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Diggs throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

You can see the frustration on Ward's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Diggs sizes up Ward with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Diggs displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ward.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Diggs is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Ward still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Ward has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Reggie Diggs showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Ward shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Diggs as he avoids it easily.
Ward shoots in and drives through. Diggs sprawls well.
Diggs takes a swing at Ward's ribcage but misses.
Reggie Diggs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Diggs connects with a nice short shot to Ward's temple.

Diggs is stalling here. Ward is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Diggs seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Ward has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Ward tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ward has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Diggs wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Diggs is trying to control Ward's posture but Ward avoids it.

Ward thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Reggie Diggs is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Diggs parries the strikes from Ward easily there. Ward is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Diggs to escape.
Ward advances to full mount.
Diggs avoids a series of strikes thrown by Ward.
Diggs tries to lock up and control but Ward gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Ward throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Diggs because Ward loaded up on that one.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Diggs is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Ward working for a submission but Diggs is keeping him at bay.
Rick Ward has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Diggs wants to control but Ward is having none of it.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Reggie Diggs.
Well Diggs has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
