The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Layden looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Nice takedown defense from Pierce. No joy for Layden on that attempt.
Koufax Pierce seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pierce lands with a shot to the body.

Oooooh!!! Pierce has knocked Layden down with a huge combo! Pierce steps away and waves a wobbly Layden back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Layden is rocked!

It looks like Mitch Layden has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pierce slips a jab and a cross from Layden.
Layden throws a leg kick but Pierce sees it coming and checks it nicely.
A shot to the liver by Pierce. Beautiful body shot.
Pierce throws a series of punches but Layden moves out of range.
No joy there for Pierce, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Layden closes the distance and clinches up with Pierce, looking for a takedown. Layden pushes Pierce against the cage but Pierce circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Pierce connects with a right hand. Layden shakes it off.
Layden is still on wobbly legs! Can Pierce finish him?
Pierce cracks Layden with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Layden falls to his knees and Pierce doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!
