Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Rummer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Mortensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mortensen is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by La gazza ladra. Ryan Rummer has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Mortensen!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Jonathan Paton and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mortensen gets a clinch.

Rummer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mortensen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

It looks like David Mortensen has been cut.
Rummer throwing strikes here but Mortensen is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

The cut above David Mortensen's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Rummer is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Mortensen has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Mortensen!

Mortensen throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Rummer works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mortensen working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

That was a close round but I would say that Ryan Rummer will probably get the nod.

That's time! Rummer's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Mortensen misses with a takedown attempt - Rummer sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Mortensen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rummer avoids it really well and circles away.
Rummer will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ryan Rummer. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mortensen darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Rummer manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Rummer had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mortensen defends it easily.

Rummer is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mortensen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mortensen's back!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rummer is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Mortensen is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Rummer struggling to land strikes to the head as Mortensen covers up.
Rummer misses with punches from the back.
Mortensen is trying to get back to his feet but Rummer has full control of the position and if anything, Mortensen has just worked his way into a worse spot.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Mortensen goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Rummer throws a looping overhand right but Mortensen ducks down to avoid it.
Rummer keeps the fight on the outside.
Rummer steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mortensen.
David Mortensen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mortensen tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rummer sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mortensen somewhat.

Mortensen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rummer throws a right hand that Mortensen ducks under and follows up with a left that Mortensen also avoids with ease.
Mortensen tries to close the distance and clinch but Rummer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rummer defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mortensen.

Mortensen makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.


It looks like Ryan Rummer has been cut.
Mortensen is pressed up against the cage. Rummer has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mortensen down to the mat. Mortensen avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Ryan Rummer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fighters circling - Rummer throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rummer.

Mortensen pushes Rummer back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Mortensen has hold of one of Rummer's legs. Rummer is fighting the takedown attempt but Mortensen gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Mortensen is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Rummer can't keep his opponent in guard - Mortensen advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
David Mortensen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Mortensen takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Mortensen is keen to just control but Rummer is a slippery customer.

David Mortensen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Rummer has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
