The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maddox throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mullins was covering up waiting for the punch and Maddox finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Mullins escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Maddox gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Maddox works over Mullins with some ground and pound from guard.

Mullins is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Maddox is aware though and is defending well.

Mullins is looking for a triangle here but Maddox uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
The referee asks Maddox politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Maddox prefers to stall for the moment though.
Maddox cracks Mullins with an elbow. That is naaassty.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mullins takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Mullins is trying to improve his position.
Maddox advances nicely into full mount.
Oooh a big shot lands for Maddox! Mullins is out! The ref dives in to save him from more punishment!
