The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Basaev takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Marciano misses with the combination.

Basaev throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Basaev tries to work over Marciano's front leg with a kick but Marciano checks it.
Basaev avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Basaev lands a left and a right that send Marciano crashing to the mat, dazed. Basaev thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Randy Marciano has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Marciano tries to bum rush Basaev with a series of wild strikes but Basaev uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Marciano lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Basaev circles away quickly and effectively.

Marciano tries to keep at a distance but Basaev has taken the fight into the clinch.
Basaev is trying to break the clinch but Marciano has him pressed against the cage.
Basaev lands a nice uppercut.
Basaev is working Marciano over against the cage.
Marciano blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Basaev tries to land knees in the clinch but Marciano avoids the damage to the body.
