The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Russell tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Brute paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Russell slips a jab and a cross from Brute.
Brute throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Brute takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Russell counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Brute throws the left hand but Russell avoids the punch easily.
Russell uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Brute.
Brute scores with a nice head shot.

It looks like Buck Russell has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Brute misses with an uppercut.
Russell shoots in but Brute avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Russell throws a jab when Brute was well out of range.

Brute throws a leg kick that misses.
Russell punishes Brute's body with a nice straight punch.
Brute throws a jab but it's blocked by Russell.
Russell tries to bum rush Brute with a series of wild strikes but Brute uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Brute dodges the punch combination from Russell.
Brute misses with a double jab
and Russell counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Brute swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Russell fails with the takedown.
Russell tries to land a front kick but Brute steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Brute tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Russell swivels and escapes.
Russell throws a head kick but Brute moves out of range.
Russell ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Brute loads up with a big shot that hurts Russell! He's pulled Brute in close but Brute has postured up and lands more strikes. Can Russell survive? More strikes from Brute and Russell is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!
