PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Craig Harper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Lashley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harper comes to the cage accompanied by Spitfire. Lashley is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Dominator. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harper drops his hands momentarily and Lashley takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Harper has a takedown stuffed.
Lashley doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Harper counters with a takedown into side control.

Harper swings around for an armbar but Lashley sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Harper's guard.
Lashley missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Lashley is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lashley accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Harper is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Lashley has gone for a leg lock! Harper slips out almost immediately though and dives into Lashley's guard.

Lashley feints and as Harper raises his hands in defense, Lashley changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lashley is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Lashley drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Harper manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lashley has Harper in his guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Lashley manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Harper manages to get himself to full guard.
Lashley postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Lashley gets to his feet - Harper follows without any prompting.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lashley has picked Harper up - he's going for a ride! Lashley dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Harper is in trouble now - Lashley has advanced to mount!

Lashley postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Harper looks a forlorn figure.
The referee warns Harper that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Lashley connects with a nice short shot to Harper's temple.
Lashley is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Harper pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Lashley closes the distance and clinches up with Harper, looking for a takedown. Lashley pushes Harper against the cage but Harper circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lashley.
Lashley fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Harper throws a head kick but Lashley moves out of range.

and Harper makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

and Harper counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Harper makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Harper has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Harper wants to pass the guard but Lashley is keeping the position.
