Kirby's entrance music is Go Hard. A fine choice. Michael Johnson looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kirby is looking to slow Johnson down with leg kicks.
Kirby lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Johnson backs up against the cage.
Kirby looks to land a combination but Johnson avoids it well.

Kirby lands a big head kick that sends Johnson tumbling to the mat! Kirby takes a step backwards and waves Johnson back to his feet - he wants the finish!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Johnson has his takedown stuffed

and Kirby counters by moving into the clinch.
Johnson tries for a takedown but Kirby manages to get underhooks.

Kirby has Johnson pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Kirby pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Johnson tumbling to the mat - Kirby dives into Johnson's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Kirby in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Kirby wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving.
Johnson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kirby has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Johnson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kirby gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Johnson looks gassed!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kirby is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Kirby trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Matthew Michael Kirby just wasn't active enough.
Johnson takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Johnson shoots for a double leg takedown but Kirby sprawls well. He's pushed Johnson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Matthew Michael Kirby has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Johnson.

Michael Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kirby moves into the clinch.
Kirby works on Johnson's body with a couple of short punches.

Kirby breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kirby thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Johnson if he has to take too many more of those.

Kirby plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Kirby wants to clinch up but Johnson keeps it at a distance.
Kirby gets in close and tags Johnson with a short punch that almost sends Johnson to the mat! Oh Johnson is in big trouble! He turns his back on Kirby, trying to create some distance but Kirby rushes him, striking wildly and Johnson goes down! The referee tackles Kirby into the cage to end the fight! Kirby is one violent man!
