Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ben Bitch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edward Simpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Edward Simpson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Simpson.

Bitch gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Simpson to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Bitch wants to sweep here but Simpson controlling him for the moment.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Edward Simpson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Simpson feints and as Bitch raises his hands in defense, Simpson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Simpson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bitch manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Simpson has Bitch in his guard.

Simpson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bitch defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Simpson is looking for a sweep. Bitch is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bitch wants to stand but Simpson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Simpson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Bitch decides to stand and escape the position.

Simpson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bitch knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Simpson is thwarting Bitch's attempts to control the position.

Simpson is working for a submission of some sort.

Simpson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

A close second round but Edward Simpson will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Bitch wants to clinch up but Simpson keeps it at a distance.
Simpson shoots for a double leg takedown but Bitch sprawls well. He's pushed Simpson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Bitch leaves Simpson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Simpson throws a right and a left that both miss.

Simpson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Simpson is working to tighten is grip on Bitch's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Bitch has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Simpson is really squeezing tight and eventually Bitch passes out! Simpson breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
