Penn shoots in for a takedown but Z shows good takedown defense.
Z jabs Penn right on the nose. Penn blinks but takes it well.

and Z counters with a nice body shot.

Z wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jay Z seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Z has closed the distance and engaged Penn in a clinch.
Penn changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Z fights it off and pushes away nicely.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Z clobbers Penn with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Z has cracked Penn with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Z lands another huge swinging hook and Penn tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Penn, before Z can land any more shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jay Z!
