Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Elio Mohorovic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rob Darrell!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Steven Brown and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mohorovic misses with the combination.
Mohorovic throws a series of punches but Darrell avoids them all with ease.
Darrell falls off balance throwing a combination
and Mohorovic counters with a three punch combo that has Darrell backing up. Darrell nods at Mohorovic to acknowledge the strikes.
Darrell fails with the takedown
and Mohorovic counters with a nice double leg into side control. Darrell won't be happy with that.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mohorovic is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Darrell knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Mohorovic wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Darrell, who protects the arm well.
Mohorovic decides to stand up, so the ref orders Darrell to his feet.
Darrell looks gassed!
Darrell tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Mohorovic fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Darrell, pushing him back against the cage.
Mohorovic breaks the clinch.
Mohorovic has managed to clinch.
Mohorovic prevents Darrell from breaking the clinch.
Mohorovic wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Darrell has him pressed against the cage.
Mohorovic breaks the clinch.
Darrell swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Mohorovic counters by moving into the clinch.
Darrell tries for a takedown. No joy.
Mohorovic tries to break the clinch but Darrell is controlling the position.
A body shot lands from Mohorovic.
Mohorovic is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Darrell can't fight it off and eventually Mohorovic manages to take the fight to the floor. Darrell looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Mohorovic slips nicely into half guard.
Mohorovic is pressing down on Darrell's thigh, looking to free his foot. Darrell is holding on for now.
Mohorovic passes to side control.
Mohorovic thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mohorovic is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Darrell knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Mohorovic tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mohorovic has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mohorovic swings around for an armbar but Darrell sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Mohorovic's guard.
Mohorovic has his foot on Darrell's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Darrell works his way back into a safe position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Darrell wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Mohorovic's closed guard. He's half up but Mohorovic has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Mohorovic pivots and extends the arm, Darrell falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Mohorovic! Well done that man!
