Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hobo Nutmeg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jed Calub (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hobo Nutmeg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jed Calub!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nutmeg tries to clinch but Calub is having none of it.
Nutmeg closes this distance looking for a takedown but Calub circles away.

Calub drives through with a takedown into guard.

Calub got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nutmeg has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Calub has managed to get both his arms back between Nutmeg's legs - danger averted.
Calub is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Calub is stalling in the full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Calub takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Calub landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Calub is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Calub tries to stand and escape but Nutmeg is controlling the position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Calub slows the pace down in half guard.
It looks like Calub might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Nutmeg won't allow Calub to pass to mount.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Calub controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Calub postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Calub pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nutmeg is keeping the position for now.
Calub stays in close to Nutmeg's body and controls the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jed Calub.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nutmeg throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Nutmeg tries to clinch but Calub is having none of it.

Calub shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Calub showed some decent athleticism there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Nutmeg tries to clinch up.
Nutmeg tries to close the distance and clinch up but Calub swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Nutmeg shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

so Calub counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Calub pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nutmeg is keeping the position for now.
Calub's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Calub is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Nutmeg throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Calub escapes and throws Nutmeg's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Calub really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nutmeg. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Calub is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Nutmeg will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

and Calub counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Calub passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Nutmeg!

Calub is landing with some decent strikes but Nutmeg is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Calub prevents Nutmeg from getting the reversal.

Nutmeg is desperately trying to improve his position but Calub has a good base and remains in mount.
Nutmeg really wants to buck Calub off and get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Calub is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Nutmeg can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Jed Calub showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Calub feints and as Nutmeg raises his hands in defense, Calub changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Calub gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Calub avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Calub shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nutmeg is trying to defend but Calub finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Nutmeg is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Calub pulls his head out easily.

Calub is taking a breather. Nutmeg says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Nutmeg tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Calub has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Calub gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Hobo Nutmeg has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Nutmeg tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Calub paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Calub stuffs the takedown.

Calub closes the distance and clinches.
Calub tries a knee to the head but Nutmeg blocks it.

Calub manages to break the clinch.
Calub avoids the head kick by Nutmeg.

Calub gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Calub is stalling in the full guard.

Calub avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Nutmeg working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Calub doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Calub manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Nutmeg can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Calub controls the pace.

Calub must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Let's hope that Calub has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Calub decides to stand up, so the ref orders Nutmeg to his feet.

Jed Calub is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Jed Calub comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Calub winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
