The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, William Gold and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paquiao throws a lazy right hand but Penn sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Paquiao stuffs the takedown.
Penn fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Paquiao manages to avoid it.
Penn displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Paquiao throws out the jab.
Paquiao smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Penn takes a swing at Paquiao's ribcage but misses.
Paquiao lands a jab to Penn's midsection.
Penn misses with an uppercut.
Paquiao slaps away a takedown attempt from Penn, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Horrible takedown by Penn or perhaps it was just good defense by Paquiao which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bj Penn. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Manuel Paquiao is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Penn shoots in and gets a takedown into Paquiao's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Paquiao can do anything to dispel that myth.

Paquiao wants to stand but Penn is controlling the position.

Penn stops Paquiao from standing up.
Penn throws a strike but Paquiao rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Penn is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Penn wants to free his trapped foot but Paquiao is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Paquiao wants to get back to full guard.
Penn is looking to advance position but Paquiao won't allow it.
Penn works his way into full mount!
Penn is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Paquiao is in real trouble.

I really don't envy Paquiao right now.
Penn is landing with strikes. Paquiao can't take much more of this.

Paquiao is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Penn gets his way!

Penn lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Penn.
Paquiao is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
