Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Muhammad Faris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jamie Spaseski!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, John Mangel and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Spaseski drives through with a takedown into Faris's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Faris looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Spaseski's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Spaseski gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Spaseski throws a half hearted mid kick.

Spaseski shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Faris manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Spaseski content to stall in guard here.
Spaseski advances position into side control!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Spaseski takes a little break here. Faris wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Faris wants to control but Spaseski postures up.
Faris seems a little lost for a moment, as Spaseski dominates the positioning.

Spaseski decides to take the fight back to the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Faris enables Spaseski to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Faris manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Spaseski postures up and lands a big shot to Faris's brow.
Spaseski not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jamie Spaseski hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Spaseski throws a head kick but Faris moves out of range.
Spaseski throws a front kick aimed at Faris's knee but Faris avoids it well.

Spaseski drives through with a takedown into guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Spaseski stands and throws Faris's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Spaseski controls the position.
Faris stops Spaseski from passing to mount.
Spaseski content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
It looks like Spaseski might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jamie Spaseski.
Faris uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Spaseski.
Spaseski throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Spaseski drives through and clinches with Faris against the cage.

Spaseski turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Spaseski manages to end up in side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Spaseski is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Faris will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Faris is trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jamie Spaseski dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Spaseski shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Faris napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Spaseski thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Spaseski is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Faris will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Spaseski postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Spaseski advances nicely into full mount.
Faris is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Spaseski controlling the pace for now.
Faris is looking to get to half guard.
Spaseski scoring with strikes but Faris is staying in there.
Spaseski looking to control and managing it successfully.

Spaseski has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Faris is forced to tap!
