The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Calliente lands with a nice combination. Brooks backs away looking to recover.
Calliente fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Brooks will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Brooks throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Calliente takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Eddie Brooks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vincenzo Calliente.

Calliente does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Calliente walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Brooks is looking to wear down Calliente with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

The fighters circle momentarily. Brooks darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Calliente seems to have recovered his senses.

Calliente is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Calliente pulls guard effortlessly.
Brooks is in close to Calliente's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Poor strikes thrown by Brooks there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
