Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Seamus Fergus!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Algenir Mira!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Daniel Cesar and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fergus shoots in but no luck this time.
Fergus scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Fergus shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Mira swats away the attempt to clinch by Fergus.
Mira lands a slapping body shot.
Mira has closed the distance and engaged Fergus in a clinch.
Fergus misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Fergus keeps control of Mira as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Fergus tries to throw a body punch but Mira avoids it by throwing Fergus back against the cage.
Fergus has Mira pressed against the cage, preventing Mira from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Fergus goes for a takedown attempt but Mira pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Mira misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Mira keeps the fight on the outside.
Fergus takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Fergus lands a lovely overhand right.
Fergus scores with a jab.
Mira keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Fergus thows a left - swing and a miss!
Fergus tries to close the distance and clinch but Mira swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A big right from Fergus misses.
Mira ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Fergus moves away.
Fergus throws the left hand but Mira avoids the punch easily.
Fergus bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fergus looks to score with a jab to the body but Mira is just out of range.
Algenir Mira is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mira missing with a left hand there. Fergus was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Fergus throws a body punch but Mira moves out of range.
Mira ducks under a wild hook from Fergus.
Mira swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Fergus manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mira on his heels. He'll look to pass Mira's guard now, I'm sure.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fergus working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Fergus throws and elbow that misses. Mira uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Fergus's guard. Nice move by Mira!
Fergus looking for a sweep. Not yet Fergus, not yet.
Fergus bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mira's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fergus is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fergus accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Mira wants to stand up but Fergus is controlling him.
Fergus postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mira utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Fergus is looking to work some ground and pound but Mira has wrist control.
Mira pushes Fergus off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Fergus jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Fergus scores with a shot to the body.
Fergus misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Mira.
Fergus shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Fergus was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Mira holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Fergus tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Fergus throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fergus misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
The referee warns Mira that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Seamus Fergus dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Excellent takedown into side control there by Fergus.
Fergus looks up at the clock and then as Mira takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Fergus smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Seamus Fergus overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Fergus in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Mira looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Fergus turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
