The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salamanca scores with a head kick. Franklin tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Salamanca throws a head kick but Franklin moves out of range.
Marco Salamanca seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Salamanca tries to close the distance and clinch but Franklin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Salamanca throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Franklin works Salamanca's body with a nice hook.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Salamanca moves out of range of the strikes.
Salamanca pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Salamanca tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Franklin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
The fighters circle momentarily. Franklin darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

It looks like Marco Salamanca has been cut.
Salamanca connects with an inside leg kick.
