PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Aerts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stanko Velilkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Stanko Velilkov was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Peter Aerts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stanko Velilkov!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Saam Ante and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aerts takes a swing at Velilkov's ribcage but misses.
Aerts jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Velilkov has managed to clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Aerts.
Velilkov tries to stall but Aerts uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Aerts escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Aerts lands with a kick to the ribs.

Velilkov moves into range and clinches up with Aerts.
A nice right hand lands inside from Aerts.
Velilkov wants to stall.
Velilkov wants a takedown but no success here.
Velilkov managing to block the knees to the body from Aerts.
Aerts tries to break free but Velilkov pushes him back against the ropes.
With the two fighters working up against the ropes, Aerts just misses with a elbow thrown towards Velilkov's brow.
Aerts prevents the takedown attempt.

Velilkov manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Velilkov is adopting a defensive guard.

Stanko Velilkov has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Aerts keeps Velilkov at a distance using the push kick.

Velilkov moves into the clinch.

Velilkov tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Aerts just stands there and leans against the ropes.
Peter Aerts has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stanko Velilkov.

Velilkov is trying to maintain a safe position but Aerts gets an underhook and turns Velilkov into the ropes.
Velilkov drops down looking for an ankle pick but Aerts pulls his leg out and moves away.
Aerts lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Aerts closes the distance and clinches.
Velilkov tries to pull guard but Aerts holds him up against the ropes and eventually Velilkov drops back down to his feet.
A nice left hand lands by Aerts.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Velilkov stalling against the ropes.
Aerts is trying to break free.
Aerts scores with a shot to the side of Velilkov's head.
Aerts misses with some punches.
Velilkov tries for a takedown. No joy.
Velilkov is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Aerts is keeping busy.
Velilkov drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Aerts creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Velilkov's defenses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Aerts lands a right hand that snaps the head of Velilkov backwards.
Aerts gets through Velilkov's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Velilkov is trying to stall.
Velilkov is working for a takedown up against the ropes. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Aerts is pressed up against the ropes. Velilkov has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Aerts down to the mat. Aerts avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Decent striking displayed by Aerts there.
Aerts thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Velilkov if he has to take too many more of those.
Velilkov looks gassed!
Aerts goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Aerts fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Aerts works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Aerts lands a high kick!


Velilkov is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Velilkov sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Velilkov is still on wobbly legs! Can Aerts finish him?
Velilkov takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Aerts circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Velilkov to the canvas! Velilkov doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Aerts keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Peter Aerts!
