The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sammartino throws a sloppy head kick and Sailo moves out of range easily.
Sammartino moves into range and clinches up with Sailo.
Sammartino lands a takedown into guard.
Sammartino stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sailo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sammartino is looking to advance position but Sailo has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Sammartino loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Sailo scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Sammartino land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Sammartino stands and salutes the crowd.
