The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomes walks into a stiff left hand from Flaim.
Gomes moves out of range of the strikes.
Flaim stuffs the takedown attempt from Gomes. Gomes gets slowly back to his feet.
Gomes shoots in for a double leg but Flaim sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A slow jab from Flaim misses its intended target.
Gomes tries to score a power double leg takedown but Flaim sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gomes somewhat.
Jp Flaim has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Giovani Gomes.
Gomes steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Flaim.
Jp Flaim seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gomes slips under a jab from Flaim.
Gomes uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Flaim.
Flaim scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Gomes takes a jab right on the kisser.

Gomes is rocked!
Gomes walks straight into a right hand from Flaim - that's dropped him! Flaim jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Gomes from any more punishment! Gomes complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
