The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chao throws out a loose jab but Bernardes uses good head movement to avoid it.

Bernardes shoots in for a takedown but Chao shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Bernardes displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Chao throws out the jab.

Bernardes slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Bernardes is looking to work some ground and pound but Chao has wrist control.
Bernardes has gone for a leg lock! Chao slips out almost immediately though and dives into Bernardes's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chao wants to stand but Bernardes has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Bernardes is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Chao really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bernardes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Chao wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Bernardes's closed guard. He's half up but Bernardes has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Bernardes pivots and extends the arm, Chao falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Bernardes! Well done that man!
