Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Raymond Carver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Saint Pierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Raymond Carver has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Raymond Carver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Saint Pierre!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Viktor Lagutenko and Valeri Chadov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierre doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Carver counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Pierre's guard now.
Pierre wants to sweep but no luck.
Carver wants to control from the top but Pierre keeps moving.
Carver has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Carver stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pierre swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Carver knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pierre on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Raymond Carver just wasn't active enough.
Pierre fails with the takedown

and Carver moves into the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pierre drops down looking for an ankle pick but Carver pulls his leg out and moves away.
Raymond Carver has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Saint Pierre.

Carver clinches up with Pierre and pushes him back against the cage.

Carver breaks the clinch.

Carver looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Pierre regains full guard. Nicely done.

Pierre is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Carver frees his head nicely. Oh but Pierre has switched to an armbar! Carver is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
