Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Primo Calavarra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dong Ming Pak!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Franklyn Lucas and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pak dodges the punch combination from Calavarra.
A punch combination from Calavarra misses.
Pak closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Calavarra did well to prevent Pak getting side control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Pak moves nicely into side control.
Pak remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Calavarra tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Pak presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Pak is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Calavarra can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Pak manages to capitalize on a mistake by Calavarra to take his back!
Pak has his arm under Calavarra's chin here. Game over son! Pak squeezes tightly and Calavarra is forced to tap out!
