PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Alan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Iron Tager (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alan comes into the arena with Fucking Hostile by Pantera blaring out of the sound system. Tager has chosen MOTOR HEAD as his entrance music. James Alan could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Iron Tager's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Alan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Iron Tager!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Paulo Santos and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tager is looking to clinch but Alan is avoiding it.
Tager slips a jab and a cross from Alan.
Alan fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Tager checks it well.

Tager closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Alan did well to prevent Tager getting side control.

Tager is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tager is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Alan sees it coming and defends easily.

Alan looking for submissions off his back.
Tager thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Tager not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alan is trying to get back to full guard.
Tager is trying to control the action in half guard but Alan is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Tager looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Alan with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Alan regains full guard. Nicely done.
Tager working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Tager postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Tager is working Alan over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Tager wants to control from the top but Alan keeps moving.
Tager passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Tager scoring with punches and elbows.

Tager lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Alan down.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tager wants to control but Alan is keeping him busy.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Tager is trying to get an arm triangle but Alan is defending well.
Alan is looking to reverse the position.
Alan manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Alan manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Tager stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Alan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Alan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tager's guard.

Tager has control of Alan's left arm, preventing Alan from doing any damage.
Alan throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Alan trying to control the position from guard on top but Tager is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Tager is pulling down on Alan's head to control his posture.
Tager bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Alan's guard.

Alan looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Tager stands and throws Alan's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Tager tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Tager in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Alan gets back to half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Tager is looking for a kimura here.
Alan regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Tager.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tager trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Tager loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Iron Tager dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Alan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Alan throws a big shot that misses.
Alan fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Tager shoots in and bounces Alan off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Alan wants to sweep but no luck.
Tager throws a strike but Alan rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Tager is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Alan has gone for a leg lock! Tager slips out almost immediately though and dives into Alan's guard.

Alan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Tager wants to control from the top but Alan keeps moving.
Alan is trying to keep Tager in close.
Tager wants to pass the guard but Alan is keeping the position.

Tager is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Alan looking for a sweep. Not yet Alan, not yet.
Tager sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Alan's guard.
Alan is looking to improve his position.
Alan avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Tager.
Tager lands with a punch from half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Tager throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Alan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Tager is in close to Alan's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Tager lands a couple of elbows.

Tager distracts Alan with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Tager trying to move into half guard but instead Alan has managed to sweep!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tager lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Alan!
Alan wants to control but Tager is having none of it.

Tager wants to finish this one by submission but Alan is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Tager.
Alan tries to reverse the position but Tager maintains control.
BOOM! Tager connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Tager putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Alan is looking to improve his position but Tager isn't that keen on the idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Iron Tager showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Alan shoots in looking for a takedown. Tager tries to sprawl out of it but Alan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tager manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Alan throws a right and a left that both miss.

Tager closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tager lands in his opponent's guard.
Alan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tager is one step ahead there.

Alan is looking for a triangle but Tager pushes his legs off easily.
Tager cracks Alan with a solid left hand.
Tager controlling from the top position.
Tager must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Alan is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Tager defends well.
Tager is working Alan over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Tager postures up and lands a big shot to Alan's brow.

Tager is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Tager lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Tager accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Alan has his foot on Tager's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tager works his way back into a safe position though.

Tager wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alan keeps working.
Tager cracks Alan with a big elbow.
Tager grinds an elbow into Alan's temple.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Alan on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

Tager tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tager has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Tager is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Alan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Tager lands a few punches from side control.

Tager working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
James Alan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Tager is trying to get an arm triangle but Alan is defending well.

Iron Tager comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Tager winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
