The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barksdale shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Phillips pinned against the cage. Phillips gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Barksdale shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Barksdale showed some decent athleticism there.
Phillips is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Barksdale's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Barksdale's back!

Barksdale is looking to take a break and control but Phillips is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Barksdale lands a nice short elbow.

You can see the frustration on Phillips's face as Barksdale controls the position.
Phillips is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Barksdale has just dragged him back down to the mat.
