PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Keith Mullins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sanchez Roller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Keith Mullins has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Keith Mullins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sanchez Roller!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mullins shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Roller counters with a stiff right hand.
Roller swats away the attempt to clinch by Mullins.
Mullins tries to clinch there but Roller circles away.
Roller avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mullins darts in trying to clinch
and Roller counters with a two punch combo.
Mullins tries to clinch up but Roller circles away and keeps his distance.
Mullins is looking to clinch.
Roller shoots in looking for a takedown. Mullins tries to sprawl out of it but Roller keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mullins manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mullins enables Roller to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mullins manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Roller is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Roller postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Roller postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Mullins is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Roller wants to control from the top but Mullins keeps moving.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Roller wants to pass the guard but Mullins is keeping the position.
Mullins will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Mullins has his foot on Roller's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Roller works his way back into a safe position though.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Roller lands a nice short elbow.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Roller connects with a nice short shot to Mullins's temple.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Keith Mullins is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Roller circles away from the clinch attempt
and Roller counters with a nice body shot.

Mullins's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Roller connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Mullins scrambles back to his feet.

and Roller counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Keith Mullins. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Roller throws a leg kick which misses Mullins's front leg but catches the back leg as Mullins tries to avoid it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mullins has his takedown stuffed
and Mullins takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Roller closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Mullins is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Roller seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Mullins takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Roller wants to control but Mullins is keeping him busy.

Roller is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mullins has escaped the position, nice work there.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mullins tries to buck Roller off but Roller is having none of it.

Mullins is not content to let Roller control the position.
Mullins is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sanchez Roller showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Roller throws a head kick but Mullins moves out of range.
Mullins closes the distance looking to clinch
and Roller counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Roller gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Roller tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Mullins drops back looking for a leg! Roller is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Roller manages to kick Mullins off! Mullins jumps back into Roller's guard.

Mullins is looking to improve his position but Roller isn't that keen on the idea.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Sanchez Roller has got the better of the ground game so far.
BOOM! Roller connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Roller trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Mullins is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Roller can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mullins is looking to escape.

Sanchez Roller is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Sanchez Roller comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Roller has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
