PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Weathers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kazu Nakamura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Weathers comes into the arena with By The Way blaring out of the sound system. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Josh Weathers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kazu Nakamura!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shigeki Sano and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Weathers looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Weathers accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nakamura manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Nakamura wants to get back to his feet.
Weathers is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Nakamura slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Nakamura will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Nakamura looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Weathers has picked Nakamura up and slammed him! Nakamura can't keep hold of the triangle and Weathers manages to pass to side control!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nakamura can do anything to dispel that myth.

Nakamura is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Weathers's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Weathers's back!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Nakamura shoots in for a takedown but Weathers shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Kazu Nakamura was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Nakamura wants to hit a switch here but Weathers passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Nakamura there!

Well Weathers has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
