Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bob Ctvrtlik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rene Vesque (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bob Ctvrtlik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rene Vesque!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vesque misses with the combination.
Ctvrtlik fails with a takedown attempt.
Vesque tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ctvrtlik sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Vesque somewhat.
Horrible takedown by Ctvrtlik or perhaps it was just good defense by Vesque which made him look bad.
Ctvrtlik misses the jab.
Vesque stuffs the takedown attempt from Ctvrtlik. Ctvrtlik gets slowly back to his feet.

Vesque closes the distance and pushes Ctvrtlik back into the cage.

Vesque shoots for a takedown but Ctvrtlik saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Vesque tries to clinch up but Ctvrtlik circles away and keeps his distance.

Vesque lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Ctvrtlik on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Ctvrtlik is breathing heavily.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Ctvrtlik lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Vesque has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Vesque and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Vesque connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Vesque fails to land with a series of punches.
Vesque throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Ctvrtlik on the side of the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ctvrtlik accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Vesque manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ctvrtlik manages to get himself to full guard.
Vesque pushes down on Ctvrtlik's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Vesque seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Ctvrtlik is trying to control but can't.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Ctvrtlik shoots in but Vesque avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Vesque shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ctvrtlik as he jumps to the side.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vesque tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ctvrtlik was well out of range. Poor timing from Vesque.

Vesque throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Ctvrtlik shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Vesque pinned against the cage. Vesque gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Vesque slaps away a takedown attempt from Ctvrtlik, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Ctvrtlik is trying to drag Vesque to the mat but Vesque just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Ctvrtlik shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Vesque but Vesque pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Ctvrtlik stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ctvrtlik wants it to stay on the feet.

Vesque breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Vesque connects with a crisp jab.
Vesque changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ctvrtlik tries to avoid it but Vesque manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ctvrtlik to the ground. Ctvrtlik escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Vesque moves into the clinch successfully.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rene Vesque showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Ctvrtlik leaves Vesque with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Vesque must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Vesque wants to control from the top but Ctvrtlik keeps moving.

Vesque is nestled in close to Ctvrtlik, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Ctvrtlik looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Vesque has picked Ctvrtlik up and slammed him! Ctvrtlik can't keep hold of the triangle and Vesque manages to pass to side control!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Vesque is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ctvrtlik is just riding it out for now. Vesque eventually gives up the hold.

Well Vesque has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
