The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Richard Clark and William Gold.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Couture tries to clinch there but Trotter circles away.
Couture throws an overhand right that lands on Trotter's shoulder, as Trotter tries to avoid the shot.
Couture fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Trotter manages to avoid it.
Trotter fails with the takedown
and Couture counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Trotter moves into the clinch.
Trotter is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Couture tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Trotter smiles and moves away.
A head kick from Trotter lands but Couture takes it in his stride.

It looks like Ryan Couture has been cut.
Couture throws a leg kick

and Trotter counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Couture had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Trotter defends it easily.

Couture tries to clinch there but Trotter circles away.
Trotter is trying hard to land a takedown here. Couture sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
A nice inside leg kick there by Trotter. That's going to slow Couture down.

and Trotter counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Couture is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Trotter closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Couture did well to prevent Trotter getting side control.

Couture has his foot on Trotter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Trotter works his way back into a safe position though.

Couture is working an open guard so Trotter takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Couture has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Trotter regains guard immediately.
Couture wants to control from the top but Trotter keeps moving.
Trotter is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Trotter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Couture. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Couture throws a half hearted mid kick.
Couture delivers a nice body kick.
Trotter keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

and Trotter counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Trotter slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Couture drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Trotter manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Couture has Trotter in his guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Trotter moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Couture is looking for a triangle but Trotter pushes his legs off easily.
Trotter slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Couture wants to stand but Trotter is controlling the position.
Trotter wants to pass the guard but Couture is keeping the position.
Couture is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rodney Trotter has got the better of the ground game so far.
Trotter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Couture swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Trotter throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Couture is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
