Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mitka Boycheck!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Thiago Soares!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Viktor Lagutenko and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soares throws a big shot that misses.
Soares stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Soares wants it to stay on the feet.
Boycheck misses with a takedown
and Soares counters with a nice body shot.
Soares keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
It looks like Mitka Boycheck has been cut.
Boycheck tries to score a power double leg takedown but Soares sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Boycheck somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mitka Boycheck. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Soares stuffs the takedown.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Soares lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Boycheck at a distance.

and Soares counters with a crisp one two that drops Boycheck! Soares thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Boycheck to his feet! Boycheck is in big trouble!
Soares drops Boycheck with a beautiful combination! Boycheck stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Soares is looking for the KO!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Boycheck is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Boycheck. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Boycheck is breathing heavily.
Boycheck takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Boycheck closes the distance but Soares moves to the side
and Soares counters with a left and a right... and another left... and another!! That last one turned off the lights! Boycheck has no idea who he is and is as he gazes up at the spotlights. Brutal knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:08 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Thiago Soares!
