The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quinn throws an overhand right that lands on Rua's shoulder, as Rua tries to avoid the shot.
Quinn throws a shot to the body.
Quinn throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rua.
Rua throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rua pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rua gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
It looks like Mauricio Rua has been cut.
Quinn misses with a series of wild punches.

Pete Quinn is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Rua takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Quinn is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Quinn is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Rua had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Rua takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Quinn fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rua manages to avoid it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Quinn connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Rua avoids a punch combination nicely.
Quinn looks to score with a jab to the body but Rua is just out of range.
Quinn scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Rua throws out a loose jab but Quinn uses good head movement to avoid it.

Quinn slips a jab from Rua.
Rua will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Rua avoids the body shot from Quinn.
Rua throws a wild body kick that Quinn sees coming a mile off.
Pete Quinn seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Rua looks for the body kick but Quinn saw that one coming.
Quinn catches Rua with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Rua tries a head kick but it misses.
Rua defending well as Quinn loads up on a big left hand.

Rua fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Rua is looking to clinch.
Mauricio Rua seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rua misses the shot to the body.
A slow jab from Rua misses its intended target.
Quinn throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Rua stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rua misses with a looping left.
Rua misses with the combination.
Quinn scores with the left hand. Rua knows he should have avoided that one.
Mauricio Rua's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Quinn lands a nice shot that snaps Rua's head back.
This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Rua might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.

Rua throws a leg kick
and Quinn counters with a nice uppercut.
Rua misses with a low kick.
Quinn checks a leg kick.
Quinn connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Quinn scores with a body shot.
Rua tries to land a body kick
and Quinn counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rua gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Quinn.
Jeez, Mauricio Rua's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Quinn feints with a jab and clips Rua right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Rua is sent crashing into the canvas and Quinn leaps in for the kill! Rua tries to get to his feet but Quinn is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Rua is in need of a savior and steps in!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pete Quinn!
