Hode comes to the cage accompanied by Arkansas Razorback Fight Song. Scott Hode could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Hisoka Misawa's chin.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hode uses his free foot to push down on Misawa's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Misawa.

Misawa's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Hode can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Misawa is looking to escape.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Misawa tries to lock up and control but Hode gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Misawa changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hode tries to avoid it but Misawa manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hode to the ground. Hode escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The fight stays on the outside here - Misawa looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Misawa displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hode throws out the jab.

and Hode counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A telegraphed right hand from Hode misses the target.
Hode avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hode clobbers Misawa with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Hode is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Misawa fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

and Hode counters with a nice uppercut.
Hode throws the left hand but Misawa avoids the punch easily.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Misawa tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hode paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Nice uppercut lands for Hode. That snapped Misawa's head back.
