Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James Katana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marlin McCann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Katana comes to the ring accompanied by Baby got back. McCann has chosen Highway to Hell (AC/DC) as his entrance music. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, James Katana!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Marlin McCann!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Richard Clark and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCann moves forwards but Katana connects with a nice, crisp jab.
McCann misses with a left hand
and Katana counters with a nice uppercut.
McCann misses with a lunging right hand

and Katana counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Katana.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
McCann wants to stand and escape but Katana is having none of it.

Katana stands up from McCann's guard - Katana perhaps looking for a knockout.
Katana ducks under a wild hook from McCann.

McCann throws a big shot that misses.
Katana slaps away a takedown attempt from McCann, before circling back to the center of the mat.
McCann swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
McCann bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
McCann fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

McCann misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Katana.
Katana keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from McCann.

Katana is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by McCann.

letting Katana counter with a right hand.
McCann gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Marlin McCann seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Katana paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Katana cracks McCann with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes.

and Katana counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Katana leaves McCann with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Katana scores with a nice right hand.
Katana clobbers McCann with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

McCann takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
McCann tries to bum rush Katana with a series of wild strikes but Katana uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
McCann swings for the body but Katana moves out of range.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


McCann shoots for a takedown but Katana saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Katana rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but McCann moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
McCann misses with a looping left.
Katana thows a left - swing and a miss!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from McCann is defended easily by Katana.
McCann ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Katana throws a jab when McCann was well out of range.
McCann lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Katana dips to his left and cracks McCann with an uppercut!
McCann throws a lazy uppercut
and Katana counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Katana ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Katana bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps McCann's head backwards.

Katana looks to throw the jab but McCann is out of range.
McCann is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Katana.
Katana lands a nice looking body shot.
McCann stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
McCann swinging wildly here.
McCann shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Katana sprawls well. Katana wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. McCann gets slowly back to his feet.

McCann gets cracked there but stands up to it.

and Katana cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Nice defenses there by McCann.
Katana throws a series of punches but McCann avoids them all with ease.
Nice straight punches there by Katana. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Katana.
McCann just misses with a punch to the body.
Katana throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McCann's waist but McCann gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Katana off to one side.
McCann misses with a double jab
and McCann takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to James Katana.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Katana, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
