PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rick Flare (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kah Fing (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Flare's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Also Sprach Zarathustra. Fing has chosen Whats My Name as his entrance music. Rick Flare could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Kah Fing's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rick Flare!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Kah Fing!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Summer Carpenter and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flare misses with a takedown attempt - Fing sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Fing has Flare up against the cage in a clinch.
Fing has a couple of punches blocked by Flare.
Fing comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Flare has Fing pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Fing manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Flare's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Fing lands with a right hand.
Fing looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Fing tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Flare gets a double leg takedown into Fing's guard.
Flare throwing strikes but missing.
Flare is looking to work some ground and pound but Fing has wrist control.
Fing avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Flare manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Fing manages to get himself to full guard.
Flare is looking to work some ground and pound but Fing has wrist control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Fing throws a low kick but it's checked well by Flare.
Flare shoots in for a double leg but Fing sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Fing throws a wild body kick that Flare sees coming a mile off.
Fing lands a nice shot to the body.

Flare changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Fing fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Kah Fing is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A head kick misses from Fing.
Flare blocks a jab.
Flare shoots in and drives through. Fing sprawls well.
Fing throws a chopping leg kick but Flare manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Flare shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Fing as he avoids it easily.
Flare shoots for a double leg takedown but Fing sprawls well. He's pushed Flare's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Flare shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Fing makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Flare really felt that one!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rick Flare will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fing can do anything to dispel that myth.
Fing controls Flare momentarily but Flare frees himself.
Flare thows a big elbow that misses.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Flare looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Fing is fending him off so far but Flare persists. Nope, Fing circles away and we're back to standing.

Fing throws an off balance right hand

and Flare counters with a nice double leg into side control. Fing won't be happy with that.
Flare throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Fing works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Fing is looking to control Flare's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Fing avoid being mounted?

The fighters are battling for position here. Fing manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Fing is staying active underneath Flare, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Rick Flare overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Fing is looking for a sweep. Flare is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Flare wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fing keeps working.

Flare shoots in looking for a takedown but Fing manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Flare's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Fing can't escape the position.
Fing wants to hold on but Flare pushes him away.

Flare is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Fing has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Fing!

Fing has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Flare to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Fing is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Flare pulls down on the head and he's put Fing to sleep! This one is all over!
