The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn connects with a jab.
Nice uppercut lands for McNeil. That snapped Penn's head back.
McNeil misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
McNeil rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Penn moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
McNeil swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

McNeil rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Penn moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

McNeil has hold of Penn's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Penn manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
McNeil takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

McNeil is trying to stick to Penn's back but Penn is turning into McNeil. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in McNeil's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Penn.
