The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salvador moves out of range of the body kick.
Salvador ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

and Blomberg counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvador takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

and Blomberg makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Blomberg throws a lazy right hand but Salvador sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Blomberg throws an overhand right that lands on Salvador's shoulder, as Salvador tries to avoid the shot.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

and Blomberg counters with a slapping leg kick.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Blomberg feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Salvador's calf.
Blomberg throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Salvador scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Salvador looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Blomberg with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Salvador wants to free his trapped foot but Blomberg is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Salvador sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Salvador is looking for a sweep. Blomberg is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Salvador is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Blomberg has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Blomberg is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Salvador gets his way!
Salvador throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Salvador is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Blomberg has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Salvador has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Blomberg taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Salvador doesn't care though - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 8:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Diego Salvador!
