Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Brainson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 9 - 1, fighting out of New York, George Penn!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Alyssa Summers and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brainson with a poor takedown

and Penn counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Brainson!
Penn pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Brainson working to try and regain half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Penn scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Penn cracks Brainson with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Brainson really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Penn throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Brainson tries to lock up and control but Penn gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Penn lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Brainson tries to hold on but Penn postures up.

Penn with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Brainson tries to reverse the position but Penn maintains control.
Penn throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Penn avoids the attempt from Brainson to control.
Brainson wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Penn.
Penn thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Penn throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Brainson because Penn loaded up on that one.
Brainson tries to hold on but Penn pushes him away.
Penn landing strikes, looking to finish!
Brainson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Brainson is working hard here to advance position.
Penn throwing strikes here but Brainson is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Penn lands a big shot there that rocks Brainson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Brainson tries to lock up and control but Penn gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Brainson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Penn tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Brainson.
Brainson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Brainson holds on and takes a little breather.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Penn throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Brainson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Brainson looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Brainson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Penn gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Brainson trying to keep a closed guard but Penn is proving a slippery customer.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Penn postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Brainson pushes a forearm under Penn's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Penn is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
