PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James Morrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sunny Singh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Singh has chosen Iron Lion Zion - Bob Marley as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. James Morrison had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, James Morrison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Sunny Singh!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Ackerman and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morrison takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Singh closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Morrison's guard.
Singh wants to stand but Morrison has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Singh stops Morrison from standing up.

Singh stands up and waves to Morrison to follow him.

Singh clinches up against the cage.

Morrison breaks the clinch.

Morrison gets caught napping as Singh dives in and scores a takedown. Morrison manages to retain guard.

Morrison closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Singh really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Morrison. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Morrison looks up at the clock and then as Singh takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Morrison smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Singh throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Morrison sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Singh feints and as Morrison raises his hands in defense, Singh changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Singh got a little sloppy there for a moment and Morrison has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Singh has managed to get both his arms back between Morrison's legs - danger averted.
Morrison has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Morrison is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Singh is aware though and is defending well.

Morrison is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Singh defends well.
Singh has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Morrison is proving hard to escape from.

Singh gets to his feet. Morrison looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Morrison shoots in looking for a takedown. Singh tries to sprawl out of it but Morrison keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Singh manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Singh lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

and Morrison counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Morrison seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Singh pushes Morrison off looking to stand but Morrison dives back in and keeps control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Morrison is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Singh tries to kick Morrison off but Morrison keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Morrison looks to land a strike but Singh avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Morrison throws a strike but Singh rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Morrison escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Singh gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Singh gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Singh misses with a double jab.
Morrison changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Singh tries to avoid it but Morrison manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Singh to the ground. Singh escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Morrison. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Singh shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Singh was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Morrison is desperately trying to improve his position but Singh has a good base and remains in mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Sunny Singh will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Singh rushes Morrison and presses him up against the cage.
Singh has had enough of the clinch but Morrison keeps him there for the moment.
Morrison wants to break free but Singh has control.
Morrison looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Morrison tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Singh just stands there and leans against the cage.

Singh breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Morrison enables Singh to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Morrison manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Singh would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Morrison throws his legs up looking for a submission but Singh uses it to pass to side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Singh decides to stand back up.

Singh is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Morrison's half guard.

Morrison shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Singh pinned against the cage. Singh gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Well Singh has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
