PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Ferrari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kane's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Gang of Four - I love a Man in Uniform. The crowd seem to be enjoying Ferrari's choice of entrance music: Single Ladies - Brazilian Version. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tommy Kane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 2 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marcus Ferrari!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Nard Betker and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferrari cracks Kane with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Ferrari lands a leg kick that knocks Kane off balance momentarily.
Kane shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ferrari as he avoids it easily.
Ferrari finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Kane misses with a few strikes there.
Kane shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ferrari defends it nicely.
Ferrari tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kane swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Ferrari tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kane paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ferrari looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Ferrari darts in and clinches Kane up against the cage.

Ferrari misses with a knee strike.
Kane stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Kane pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ferrari thows a body shot but no joy.
Ferrari buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Kane misses with a low kick as Ferrari jumps back.
Kane throws an off balance right hand
and Ferrari counters with a big head kick but Kane shrugs it off.
Kane checks a low kick from Ferrari.
Kane fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tommy Kane. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ferrari tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ferrari avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Ferrari enables Kane to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ferrari manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Ferrari pushes Kane off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Kane feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Kane is pushing down on Ferrari's leg trying to pass to half guard. Ferrari is fighting to maintain full guard but Kane has managed to sneak the leg through.

Kane is working for a submission of some sort.
Kane works his way into side control.

Kane wants to take a breather but Ferrari manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Kane.
Kane stays in close to Ferrari's body and controls the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kane's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tommy Kane will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kane looks to throw the jab but Ferrari is out of range.
Kane tries to land a front kick but Ferrari steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Kane is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Ferrari's half guard.

Kane looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Kane not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Ferrari makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Kane takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Ferrari lands with a shot to the body.
Kane throws a looping overhand right but Ferrari ducks down to avoid it.
Ferrari stuffs the takedown attempt from Kane. Kane gets slowly back to his feet.

Ferrari lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Ferrari lands with a kick to the temple. Kane shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Marcus Ferrari is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kane throws a lazy uppercut
and Ferrari counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kane thinking.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kane throws a combination that misses
and Ferrari counters with an inside leg kick.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kane is defended easily by Ferrari.
Kane takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kane is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kane lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Marcus Ferrari showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Ferrari explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Marcus Ferrari seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Ferrari has Kane up against the cage in a clinch.
Ferrari is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Kane is defending well for now.

Ferrari throws a sloppy head kick and Kane moves out of range easily.

Kane shoots in for a takedown but Ferrari shows good takedown defense.
Ferrari connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Kane closes the distance and clinches up with Ferrari, looking for a takedown. Kane pushes Ferrari against the cage but Ferrari circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kane misses the shot to the body.
A nice leg kick lands there from Ferrari.
Ferrari stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ferrari wants it to stay on the feet.

Ferrari is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Kane rather than just go for the knockout.

Tommy Kane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ferrari dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

A slapping leg kick lands for Ferrari.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kane keeps the fight on the outside.
Kane takes a kick to the side of the head.
Ferrari throws a head kick but Kane moves out of range.
Kane cracks a nice hook into Ferrari's ribs.
Ferrari lands a head kick. Kane smiles back at him and beckons him forward.


Kane is rocked!
Ferrari wants to clinch up but Kane keeps it at a distance.
Oh Kane is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kane throws the left hand but Ferrari avoids the punch easily.
Ferrari wants to clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
Marcus Ferrari comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Ferrari has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
