The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sullivan fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Sullivan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gracie pinned against the cage. Gracie gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Jacob Sullivan Sullivan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sullivan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gracie is fending him off so far but Sullivan persists. Nope, Gracie circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jacob Sullivan Sullivan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sullivan shoots in looking for a takedown. Gracie tries to sprawl out of it but Sullivan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gracie manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Sullivan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sullivan shoots in and drives through. Gracie sprawls well.
Sullivan throws a leg kick but Gracie sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Sullivan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Sullivan avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Gracie is looking for a triangle but Sullivan pushes his legs off easily.
Sullivan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Gracie had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Sullivan is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Gracie Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Sullivan's back instead.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sullivan is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Gracie.
Sullivan is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Gracie is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Sullivan defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Gracie lands a shot to the body.
Sullivan trying to control the action but Gracie just sinks the hooks in.
Well, with Gracie on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Sullivan is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
Sullivan turns into Gracie and is now in his guard.
Sullivan trying to control but Gracie is working from the bottom.
Sullivan has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Gracie is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Sullivan frees his head nicely. Oh but Gracie has switched to an armbar! Sullivan is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
