The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Dominic. No joy for Michaels on that attempt.
Michaels displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Dominic throws out the jab.
No luck for Michaels with that takedown attempt.
Michaels throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dominic's waist but Dominic gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Michaels off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shawn Michaels. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Michaels has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Michaels is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dominic defends it well.
Dominic really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Michaels. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
