Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Billy Rose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Quick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rose's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Soothsayer. Nick Quick has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Billy Rose!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nick Quick!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Jorge Garcia and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quick fails in his attempt to clinch.
Quick pushes Rose away with a front kick.
Rose avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Rose fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rose tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Quick is able to avoid easily.

Rose closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Rose prevents Quick from escaping the position.
Quick is trying to get back to half guard.
Quick seems a little lost for a moment, as Rose dominates the positioning.
Quick is looking for a sweep.
Quick is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Quick takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Quick is looking for a sweep.
Rose wants to control but Quick is keeping him busy.

Rose wants to control for a moment but Quick uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Rose throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Quick is trying to get back to full guard.
Rose stops Quick from getting back to his feet.

Quick looking for submissions off his back.
Rose slips a nice elbow through Quick's hands, connecting with Quick's forehead.

Rose avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Rose has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Quick manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rose manages to get himself to full guard.
Rose might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Quick wants to control from the top but Rose keeps moving.

Quick advances to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rose is not content to let Quick control the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rose has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Quick is working away from the top position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nick Quick dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Quick doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Quick displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rose.
Danga de danga de dang - Rose scores with a four punch combination!
Quick stuffs the takedown attempt from Rose. Rose gets slowly back to his feet.
Rose throws an off balance right hand
and Quick counters with a straight right hand.
Rose feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Quicks jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Rose jabs Quick to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Quick shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rose pinned against the cage. Rose gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Rose misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Quick.

Quick instigates a clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Quick is trying to maintain a safe position but Rose gets an underhook and turns Quick into the cage.
Quick stalling.
Quick tries for a takedown. No joy.
Quick can't get the takedown.
Billy Rose has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Quick.
Quick has Rose pressed against the cage, preventing Rose from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Rose tries for a takedown. No joy.
Quick missing with knees to the body.
Rose blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Quick has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Rose avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Quick has Rose pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Quick pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Rose tumbling to the mat - Quick dives into Rose's guard.

Rose has his foot on Quick's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Quick works his way back into a safe position though.

Rose keeping hold of Quick's head, controlling as best he can.

Quick is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Nick Quick has got the better of the ground game so far.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Quick keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Quick has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Rose is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Nick Quick will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Rose lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Quick at a distance.
Quick tries to close the distance and clinch but Rose swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Quick takes the fight into the clinch.
Rose is working for takedown but Quick is calmly controlling the position for now.
Rose wants to break free but Quick has control.
Rose gets underhooks to prevent Quick's takedown attempt.

Quick is fighting off a takedown attempt but Rose is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Quick to the mat. Quick regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Rose in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Quick is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Rose is looking to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Quick is looking to pass Rose's guard but actually Rose recovers to full guard.

Rose keeping moving, preventing Quick from controlling successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Quick controls from within his opponent's guard.

Nick Quick has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Rose closes this distance looking for a takedown but Quick circles away.
Rose shoots for a double leg takedown but Quick sprawls well. He's pushed Rose's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Billy Rose. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Rose shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Rose was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Quick is working to get back to half guard.

Rose tries to control but Quick wriggling away.
Quick bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Billy Rose has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rose is trying to hold Quick in close to prevent damage but Quick has managed to pass into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Quick controlling the pace.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Quick is looking to stall here but Rose recovers full guard.
Nick Quick is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Quick is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Billy Rose.
I think Quick has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
